What we collect, and what we don't.

Tessorio Learning Academy is run by Stream Fusion Web in Arizona, United States ("we", "us"). This policy covers tessorio.com and the Tessorio application. It is written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, write to us and we will explain it.

The short version

• We collect your email address when you ask for early access, and your account details if you get in.
• We do not sell your personal information, and we never have.
• We do not run advertising on Tessorio, and we do not track you across other websites.
• Files you upload are read on your own computer to build your course. They are not uploaded to us.
• You can ask us to delete everything we hold about you, at any time, and we will.

Who this is for, and age limits

Tessorio accounts are for people aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, please read this policy with a parent or guardian.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A younger child can learn with Tessorio, but only through a parent's or teacher's own account, with that adult present and responsible for it. The child does not get a login and we do not ask the adult for the child's name, birthday, photograph or contact details. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information directly, write to [email protected] and we will delete it.

What we collect

When you ask for early access

The early access form asks for your email address, and optionally your name and a line about what you want to learn or teach. We keep this so we can let you in when a place opens and tell you when Tessorio opens to everyone. We store it in a customer relationship management service, which is an address book run by another company on our behalf.

If you get an account

Your email address, a password you choose, and the answers you give when you set the account up: what you want to learn, what you already know, how you like things explained and how fast you want to go. Your courses, lessons and progress are stored so you can come back to them.

Your own material

Tessorio can build a course from your notes, PDFs and pictures. Those files are read on your own computer. They are not sent to us and we do not keep copies. What we receive is the course that comes out of them.

Technical information

Like every website, our servers record the ordinary details of a visit: the pages requested, the approximate area an address is in, the browser and the time. We use it to keep the site working and to find faults.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for your payment card, because Tessorio is free during the private beta. We do not ask for your address, your date of birth or any official identity document. We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not build a profile of you for anyone else.

Why we are allowed to hold it

We hold your information to provide something you asked us for, to keep it working, and to obey the law. Where the law requires your consent, such as marketing email, we ask for it first and you can take it back at any time. If you are in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, our lawful bases are performance of a contract, our legitimate interest in running and securing the service, your consent where we ask for it, and legal obligation.

Who else sees it

Other companies help us run Tessorio, and they see only what they need to do their part:

• a hosting company, which serves this website;
• a customer relationship management service, which holds the early access list;
• an email service, which sends the messages you have asked for;
• artificial intelligence providers, which turn the subject you asked about into a lesson. What reaches them is the subject and your learning settings, not your name or your email address.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not give it to anyone else except where the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety, or if the business is ever sold, in which case we will tell you first.

How long we keep it

The early access list is kept until Tessorio opens to everyone, or until you ask us to remove you. Account information is kept while your account is open, and deleted within 30 days of you closing it. Server records are kept for up to 12 months. We keep nothing "just in case".

What you can ask us to do

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy. You can unsubscribe from any email with the link at the bottom of it.

If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Virginia or another state with a privacy law, you have those rights by law, along with the right not to be treated differently for using them. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing for you to opt out of, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you. If you live in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, you also have the right to object to processing, to restrict it, and to complain to your data protection authority.

To ask for any of this, write to [email protected]. We answer within 45 days, and usually within a few days. We may ask you to confirm the email address the request concerns, so that we do not hand your information to someone else. Someone may act on your behalf if they have your written permission.

Keeping it safe

Information travels to us over an encrypted connection and is stored on services that require multi-factor sign-in. Only the people running Tessorio can reach it. No system is perfect: if information of yours is ever exposed, we will tell you and the authorities as quickly as the law requires, and sooner if we can.

Where it is held

Tessorio is run from the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, your information is handled in the United States, where privacy law differs from your own.

Changes

If we change this policy we will change the date at the top, and for anything that matters we will email the address we have for you.
